5 Simple Things You Can Do to Help Save Our Elections
1. Keep informed: Sign up for the Oregon Voter Rights Coalition e-mail list to receive updates, action alerts and event announcements.
2. Write a letter to your County Clerk in favor of a mandatory hand-counted scientifically sampled verification of the machine tally before election results are officially certified. All the information you need is posted on the front page of www.OregonVRC.org, including talking points and the contact info for your county.
3. Write a letter to the Editor of the Oregonian (or other papers) expressing your concern about the lack of transparency of the proprietary trade-secret software that is used to count our votes and the need for a mandatory hand-counted scientifically sampled verification of the machine tally before election results are certified.
4. Tell your elected officials that you are concerned about the problems in American elections and why. Members of the Oregon legislature and U.S. Congress members and Senators need to hear the voices of concerned citizens. You can make a telephone call to their office, ask questions in public meetings, or send an e-mail, fax or letter via the USPS.
5. Sign up to do election observation during the upcoming election. Citizen oversight is critical to making sure our elections are conducted properly
