• July and August 2006, the Portland Alliance newspaper (http://www.theportlandalliance.org/) published two articles "Election 2006: Are Oregon's elections accurate?" in July and "Who Owns Oregons Elections?" in August.
• June 27, 2006, The Brennan Center (http://www.brennancenter.org/) Task Force on Voting System Security issued a report documenting: "Threat of Hacking Can Be Reduced by Simple Countermeasures -- Random Audits of Paper Records; Ban on Wireless Systems."
• June 2006, Rolling Stone Magazine published an article by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., titled, "Was the 2004 Election Stolen?" (http://tinyurl.com/ogrhq)

Take Action

Given these latest reports, can you have full confidence in whether your vote is being counted accurately in Oregon?
If not, please write to your county elections clerk
AND
send letters to the editor of your local newspaper to let them know what you think.

Keep It Simple

• Your message should be straightforward and to the point.
• You don't need to present an in-depth argument for your concerns, just let them know you are aware of the recent reports & articles listed above.
• Tell them you are concerned about vulnerabilities with electronic election equipment used in Oregon.
• Ask them for proof that the machine-tallied election results are accurate before they are certified by the State.

You may get a response from your County Clerk that makes many false arguments attempting to convince you that machine-tallied election results are accurate under the current system.
